Tough As Her
Nyakhot is 24 and is in war-torn South Sudan. Her mission is to feed her 4 children. In doing this, she proves how tough she is every day.
She tries to do her best to cultivate crops but with the twins and two other little ones at home (2 boys aged 2 & 4yrs) to care for she has not had lots of time to devote to the crops and they don't do well. Her husband is away fighting, she doesn't hear from him and does not know if he is OK.
Nyakhot escaped her village after it was taken over by the opposition forces. With no other options, Nyakhot found a way to the refugee feeding centre to find support for her babies.
"The feeding centre has taught me how to care for my twins, weighing them and helping them receive food and clean water. They give me soap too to keep them clean."
The babies are fed nutritionally dense food and some milk. Nyakhot hasn’t lost hope and she continues to overcome the obstacles she faces every day.
"I know God has a plan for us... Please pray that my children will grow up strong and be able to go to school. Then then they can live to help me and the country in the future."
Nyakhot proves her toughness every day in South Sudan with the help of Tough as Her teams from across Canada.
